Be a Secret Santa to our folks here at The Arc

Here at The Arc we consider the people we serve family. That is why last year, we set a goal of buying each of person who comes to our day program, lives in one of our homes or receives support services from us a personal holiday gift.

For years, we had a corporate sponsor that would play Secret Santa to our folks. That corporation was unable to continue that tradition in 2012, and we were unable to provide our folks with the holiday they had come to expect. We had a lot of disappointed folks here at The Arc in 2012.

So last year, we reached out to the community, asking that they take our folks into their hearts and be their Secret Santa.

Wow! We were overwhelmed with the kindness and generosity our community showed our folks. Having never appealed to the community before, we didn’t quite know what to expect. The outpouring of support for the individuals we serve far exceeded our expectations. The joy that you brought them last year was truly amazing!

We are hoping the community will once again decide to play Santa Claus to the individuals we serve. We are hoping to raise $3,500 to buy gifts for more than 150 people. Our goal is to be able to buy each individual a personal $20 gift.

For many of the individuals who come to our day program, live in our homes or receive support services, The Arc is their community and family. For those folks, the holiday parties and the gifts they receive at The Arc are meaningful. It lets them know that they are important and somebody cares. For many, you truly are their Santa Claus and they do indeed believe.

We have our clients’ wish list posted on Sign Up Genius. Please click on the following link to Sign Up.

We do not want anyone to be left out. People who would rather not shop can still participate in our Secret Santa program by making a donation. We will take the donations we receive and buy individuals who did not get a Secret Santa gifts. To donate please click on the following link.

Last year, we held wrapping parties here at The Arc. We had several people who played Secret Santa come in, share a meal and cookies and help us wrap gifts. The date for this year’s holiday wrapping party is 6 p.m. on Thursday, December 18th, here at The Arc.

If you would like to play a Secret Santa to one of our folks and would like more details please contact Sharon Smith at or 410-848-4124 ext. 146. You can always stop by The Arc, too. We are located at 180 Kriders Church Road, Westminster, MD.
