Do you have an old computer that you want to get rid of, but are afraid your personal information will fall into the wrong hands?
Perhaps you are friend to the environment and just want to help keep as much as you can out of the landfill.
Now is your chance to protect your data, be a friend to the environment and help out The Arc Carroll County all at the same time.
Westminster-based NoWorriesIT is holding its winter “Recycling Computers for Charity” drive. NoWorries will accept non-working computer desktops, laptops and cables between Jan. 20 and Feb. 14. NoWorries will not accept keyboards, monitors or printers for this program.
NoWorries will take the computers to the recycling center in Westminster, where they will receive a rebate. NoWorries will match the rebate and donate all the proceeds to The Arc Carroll County.
This year, NoWorriesIT has partnered with Frederick-based All-Shred Inc. The Frederick-based company will shred the hard drives on all of the old computers to ensure the integrity of donors’ personal information.
People can drop off their old computers at one of the following locations:
•NoWorriesIT at 57 Aileron Court, Westminster
•Cartridge World at 330 140 Village Road, Westminster
•Carroll County Screen Printing at 1 Broad Street, Taneytown
•Edward Jones at 4231 North Woods Trail, Suite C, Hampstead
Last year, NoWorries donated more than $500 to The Arc Carroll County through this wonderful program. The Arc provides a variety of services about 700 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities rely upon each day.
